This was then purchased by Richard Rouse Terry in 1872 who rebuilt Denistone House, and which is now in the grounds of Ryde Hospital. Another historic house is the Hermitage which was built by Gregory Blaxland's son John in 1842. More recently Denistone has been home to one of Australia’s greatest rugby league players, Arthur Beetson.
